Fish lice is a common parasite which attaches to your tropical fish. It has the ability to change it colors. Therefore, it changes its real color into the color of its host. When it attached to your tropical fish, it will rub up to remove lice from it. When you see that your tropical fish rubs, watch its body and try to find lice. Remove it from the body of your lice so that it may not affect your tropical fish. Otherwise, regular rubbing can cause severe wounds in your tropical fish.

Anchor worm buries into the flesh of the fish. You may find some bleeding where head of anchor worm will attach. White worm will come from that spot later. Check your fish regularly whether it has some bleeding or not. Remove anchor worm with the help of tweezers.

Leeches can attach to the both ends of your tropical fish. You must remove it as soon as it attached your tropical fish.

Flukes can take your tropical in the mouth of death if they remain attached for long time. Gill flukes turn the gills into red and pink colors. Swelling and sores will force your fish to live on such a place where it may get maximum air.

Ichthyophthirius having the size of the grain of salt appears as white spot. It is the most common parasite which is found in aquariums.

Oodinium is a parasite having golden color. Therefore, it is hard to find it on gold fish. It is also known as velvet and creates golden velvet coat on the part of the body where it attaches.

Hexamita appears as hole in the head and is an internal parasite. Pus filled with sores and white stringy pus are its signs. It is more common disease in fish which live in dirty water or are old.

You have to feed your tropical fish atleast twice a day. Young fish often eat more than two time sin a day. The best way of feeding tropical fish is that give them small pinches for eating. Give them and observe that either all fish are eating or not. If you find that all food has been eaten by tropical fish, give them more small pinches. Keep on giving them till they eat all small pinches. You should give them atleast 10 minutes for eating. Remember that the remaining food which goes at the bottom may cause water pollution. Therefore, you should have net for removing remaining food from your aquarium or jar.

Many fish like to eat live or frozen brine shrimp and a few live Black Worms as food. First day, your fish would get frozen brine shrimp and on second day, they will get live Black Worms for eating. You should set a time table for giving food to your tropical fish. Give them food atleast two times in a day but if they remain still hungry, give them more foods.

Most of the fish need mosquito larvae for eating. You should give them regularly mosquito larvae. Give them mosquito larvae and check that if your fish have left any larvae. Remove the remaining larvae from the bottom with the help of net. If you want to keep your tropical fish healthy, give them food regularly on time and give them their favorite foods. They will remain healthy only in this case.

Remember that tap water is not safe for your fish. Never fill your jar or tank with tap water. It can affect the health of your fish badly. Therefore, always give water of bottles to your fish. Water of bottles is healthy and keep your fish healthy. That�s what you want. Do not forget to cover your jar of the fish with any plastic thing. Change the water of tank or jar regularly. The body shape of X � Ray Fish resembles tetra pattern. It has equal number of curvatures on its ventral and dorsal surface. X � Ray Fish has a unique feature which makes it different from the other fish. X � Ray Fish lacks color and apparent translucence. The whole body of X � Ray Fish is of silver color. The basic food of goldfish is such a food which has low amount of proteins but excess of carbohydrates. Young goldfish like to eat brine shrimp. Fishless Cycle is a special cycle which is used in the tanks of the fish before the entrance of fish in the specific tank. It is necessary to go through the fishless cycle in an aquarium because it will keep your fish healthy. Fishless cycle can help you to save the life of new fish in your aquarium. Many people think that fishless cycle is a useless cycle. It is a wrong concept. Many people who do not go through fishless cycle for a new fish tank often say that their fish have died.

You will need to go through a nitrogen cycle when you start a new fish tank. This nitrogen cycle makes your aquarium a safe places for your new fish. Special bacteria are grown during this cycle. Harmful ammonia and nitrites are present in the aquarium. They are actually responsible for the death of new fish. You can cook food for fish at home too. They are easy to cook and save your money. You may cook vegetables, fish and beef heart with no flavor for your fish of aquarium. Schooling is an interesting habit of many saltwater and freshwater fish. Schooling fish has advantages as well as disadvantages. If fish school in groups and communities, it will be a source of fun for them. No one would affect or dominate other fish. You may think that what does schooling fish exactly mean.

Schooling fish means nipping. When fish are in mood of schooling, they nip each other. The best advantage of nipping is that it helps a fish to make a proper place for it in the aquarium. During schooling, fish nip each other and try to dominate. No fish can dominate as fish are found in groups in tanks. If a fish succeeds in dominating, another fish start dominant fish and may defeat it. When there is enough space, a fish move towards other direction as soon as a fish nips it first time. Many fish swim by schooling. Another advantage of schooling fish is that a fish will remain on its own place and will search for food there. It will not try to snatch food of other fish. As a result, all fish remain healthy in the tank.

Schooling is suitable only for those fish who live in groups. Schooling is never significant if only two fish live together in the aquarium. In other words, schooling is not suitable in the aquarium. If two fish live together in the aquarium and school, one fish may injure the other. Fins are the main target for a fish when it schools. If fins of a fish injure, it may become sick or may start leaving alone. It will be frightened and may die soon. Therefore, never let your fish to school in the aquarium as it may result in death of a fish.

For schooling fish, there must be minimum four fish. Six or more than six fish are the best for schooling. There will be rare chances of dominating in a group. It is hard to find schooling in the fish but you should observe. Check that all fish enjoy schooling and do not frighten.

There are different types of saltwater setups. You have to select saltwater setups according to the number and species which you want to have in your aquarium. There are two basic types of saltwater setups for the aquarium. They are named as fish � only setup and reef or mini � reef setup, mixed fish and invertebrate setup.

Fish � only setup is an ideal saltwater setup if you want to have only fish in your aquarium. It is an expensive saltwater setup and most of people use this setup at homes for saltwater fish. You just need to add standard freshwater filtration and lighting in fish � only setup. These both are the fundamental equipments of all types of setups for fish. Fish will not need high intensity of light. If you want, you may add some additional decorations in your fish � only setup so that your fish may enjoy in the aquarium. Amyloodinium and cryptocaryon are common diseases and are easy to treat in fish � only setup. You will not need to add any special chemical in water of the aquarium as fish will not need them in fish � only setup because they get already all essential chemicals from saltwater of fish � only setup.

Reef or mini � reef setup is an expensive setup because the organisms which contain symbiotic algae need more intensity of light. You will have to provide them high intensity of light in the aquarium. As there will be plenty of fish and invertebrates in this setup, it will be hard to treat the diseases in it. You will need to add a good protein skimmer and many power head pumps of water in the aquarium. Routine testing of water and replacement are the most essential things to do for reef or mini � reef setup.

Mixed fish and invertebrate setup is inexpensive comparatively. It will better if you have less number of fish and invertebrate in this setup because otherwise, it will be tough to treat diseases. You can have a good number of starfish, shrimps, crabs and maximum low - light two corals.

pH is the measurement of water of aquarium. It tells about the acidic and basic nature of water. 7.0 is such a value of pH where water becomes neutral. If water of aquarium has less value than 7.0, it means that it acidic. If value of pH is greater than 7.0, it will be alkaline. Optimum value of freshwater is " 7.0 ".

Many people try to have optimum value of freshwater of tank which is a wrong job. If your water of aquarium has pH value in between 6.8 to 8.0, pH value of water of the aquarium is ideal and suitable for fish of the aquarium. pH value of water of tank is actually the pH value of water which is added to tank. It will be very hard to change pH value of water. It has side effects on fish too.

All tropical fish come either from low value of pH or high value of pH in nature. They have to adjust themselves in pH value of the specific aquarium where they live. You will find after some days that it will come only towards that paper which will have " 0 " in the aquarium. It shows that it can distinguish between different symbols and shapes.

Check that whether your fish can distinguish between different numbers or not. Draw a big dot on a page and draw 3 dots on another page. Give it food when it will come towards page of one dot in the aquarium. If it moves towards page having three dots, do not give it anything. It will come towards page having only a single dot after some days. Some fish hardly distinguish between the numbers.

It is a lonely fish and likes to spend its most of time alone. It does not like to live in communities. If you have fish in your aquarium and want to add Purple Masked Angelfish too in your aquarium, you will take a big wrong decision. This fish is not a suitable fish for communities. It feels more happy if it lives alone.

Purple Masked Angelfish can eat many fish in the aquarium and can also become itself food of many fish. It does not like extreme light. This fish can eat frozen mysis shrimp, spirulina formula, frozen brine shrimp, dry nori, formula one and formula two. However, dry nori is its most favorite food. It eats formula too but prefers dry nori. It eats seldom other foods and only if it does not get its favorite food for long time. It likes to eat algae growing on the rocks sometimes.

Different people have different time tables for feeding their fish. Feeding matter is very sensitive as if you do not feed for certain limit or feed more than certain limit, your fish may die.

A general rule about feeding fish is that feed them twice or thrice of times in a day. Almost all people follow this rule but some people feed for different number of minutes their fish. These people often say that we give enough food to our fish and care them but they still die. Their fish die because they do not give significant amount of food to their fish.

You should feed for maximum 3 minutes to your fish in aquarium. Let them finish their food within three minutes in aquarium. Many people do not care about time and keep on feeding their fish till they need. Fish will eat a lot of food because they will not sure that when would they get food next time. You know that when you will give them food next time. Therefore, do not feed them for more than 3 minutes.

pH, power of hydrogen is the most important parameter of the aquarium. When hydrogen ions increases, pH drops and water becomes more acidic. While decrease of hydrogen ions makes water basic in nature. The normal value of pH is 7.0 and if pH is more than 7, ammonia increases in the aquarium and causes toxicity. The growth of nitrifying bactera decreases if pH value is more than 7.

Water hardness is of two types i.e. general hardness (GH) and carbonate hardness (KH). GH measures magnesium and calcium ions. KH measures dissolved carbonates and bicarbonates. The more hydrogen and carbonate increases pH while less bonding decreaes the pH value. The use of baking soda can increase pH while distilled water can decrease KH.

Nitrogen compounds are too important parameters and fishless cycles maintain them in the aquarium. Drop in pH causes formation of soluble phosphate. Increase in pH value results in the formation of silicates. When pH decreases, they become water soluble.

Many companies which supply tap water add themselves chlorine or chloramine as a disinfectant. Chlorine is less stable as compared to chloramine. It air outs in short time. If chloramine goes inside fish, it is very dangerous. When chloramine goes inside the fish from tissues and mix in the blood stream, fish can die within 24 hours. Therefore, it is necessary to keep on changing water of the aquarium so that stable chloramine may not stay in water for long time.

You should check pH, carbonate hardness, nitrate and ammonia once a week. If you want healthy aquarium for your fish, give immediate attention to these basic parameters of the aquarium. Be careful when you take readings of these basic parametets. Your small mistakes can affect badly the quality of water of the aquarium. New Tank Syndrome is also known as NTS. A huge number of new fish keeper face NTS in their new tank. The most important cause of NTS is addition of so many fish in very short time. When many fish are present in the new tank, they may have to face new tank syndrome.

When you set up new tank, nitrogen cycle takes place. Your fish secrete ammonia in water. There are some bacteria which are present in tap water change ammonia into nitrate in the aquarium. Nitrate are actually more poisonous than ammonia. Excess of ammonia and nitrate cause new tank syndrome. As a result, most of your fish die.

The symptoms of NTS in fish are paleness and your fish will stop eating. Swollen bodies, strange eyes and strange spots on the skin are too symptoms of NTS. The growth rate will too be affected by new tank syndrome in the aquarium. If you see any such symptom in your fish, you should understand that you fish are facing new tank syndrome, NTS.

The best way to save your fish from NTS is that you should possess fishless cycle in your new tank. Nitrogen cycles continues for early three to four weeks when you setup new tank. Ammonia and nitrate form during that process in aquarium. In fishless cycle, such bacteria are grown which convert nitrate into nitrite which is less toxic chemical as compared to ammonia and nitrate. A sufficient amount of bacteria is required for fishless cycle. You should new fish with the gap of a few days instead of adding all new fish immediately. If you add less number of fish, all most ammonia will be converted in nitrate in the aquarium. Then, almost all nitrate will be converted into nitrite in the aquarium. This process continues for four to six weeks in a new tank. You should keep on changing water too regularly during this time period.

You should bring a boy from the fish shop in the beginning and let him check ammonia and nitrate level in your new tank.

Oscar has the ability to grab attention. It knows how to ask for food and to whom ask for food. It sometimes pretend. It pretends and lays down. It shows that it has died. It does not actually die or is suffering from any disease but do so to attract small fish towards itself. When a small fish comes closer to dead Oscar, it opens the eyes and attack on the small fish and eat it.

Aquariums available in the markets are of two types i.e. glass or acrylic aquarium. You have to decide that which aquarium you want to buy. I prefer to buy acrylic aquarium and can prove that it is much better than glass aquarium.

You can move easily acrylic aquarium. However, you have to take help of anyone at home when you want to move glass aquarium. Glass aquarium are heavy and are it is impossible for a single person to move them.

Rectangular glass aquarium are old. Glass aquariums are available in circular shape now. They do not seem trendy now but seem an old product at home. However, acrylic aquarium are found in different shapes. Spherical, convex, concave or whatever is your choice about the shape for your aquarium, you would find all shapes in the acrylic aquarium. Acrylic aquariums are available in different shapes with sealing. So, acrylic aquarium are durable and you do not have to face problems like leakage due to the sealing. Brine shrimp are found world wide and all fish like to eat them. They are the most be liked food of fish. You may buy them from the shops where food for fish are sold. Another way of getting brine shrimp is that you may raise them at home. Raising brine shrimp is another interesting hobby along fish keeping. You will enjoy this hobby if you do it with attention and when brine shrimp will come out of the eggs.

Remember that you should not give brine shrimp on regular basis to your fish. If your fish eat brine shrimp daily, they may face digestive problems. Similarly, the regular presence of small pieces of brine shrimp in water will spoil water and its quality will low. As a result, your fish may die.

You should bring eggs of brine shrimp at home. Then raise brine shrimp at home. It is not a hard process to prepare eggs of brine shrimp for hatching. You will not need any kind of special effort. Just take care. Otherwise, egg may spoil and you may not get hatched brine shrimp from the eggs.

You should dry the eggs so that you may get brine shrimp easily from the egg. It is observed brine shrimp come out of water within 24 hours. So, you will wait for only 24 hours and brine shrimp will come out of egg automatically after it.

You should take a bottle of fresh water which should have two liter water in it. Then put egg in it and add one liter hot water immediately. Air bubbles will form along water bubbles. That�s what an egg needs. You may add saltwater salt too in water. When air bubbles form, let them come out of bottle from the small holes. Leave bottles after it for an hour. Eggs will hatch after 24 hours of this process and brine shrimp will come out of eggs. Give them to your fish. Remember that most of fish like to eat only new born and fresh brine shrimp. So give shrimps when eggs hatch.

I want to tell some useful tips for beginners.

Beginners should always start from small tanks. Small tanks are easy to care and one can enjoy his hobby very well even with small tanks.

You should add water and other things to your tank and let all necessary process like nitrogen and fishless cycle may finish. Then add fish in the aquarium.

You should always remember that you should never put your hand without washing it on a new tank if you had already put your hand in a tank. Wash your hands before putting them in the second aquarium. Its reason is that all aquariums have their own environment and temperature. All aquariums do not have same tools and net. If you bring out your hand from a tank and put it in another tank, you will disturb the environment of the tank badly.

Second tip is that you should change water regularly. You should check that all chemicals must present in balanced quantity in water. Water should not be alkaline, basic, too hard or too soft. There must be a balance.

Large gravels give chance to food particles to stick the invisible parts of the aquarium. Therefore, you should have gravel of normal size in the aquarium.

There must be some hiding places in your tank so that fish may enjoy alone some time by hiding them in caves etc.

Never forget to add plants in your new tank as plants provide required amount of oxygen to your fish which is necessary for their life.

You should never turn off your filter and air. Bacteria which produce the most toxic chemical i.e. nitrate will start working immediately and water quality will affect badly.

A single heater of a suitable size for a tank is enough in a tank.

You must know when to feed your fish and how much you feed your fish. It is better to feed fish for maximum three times for three to four minutes each time.

You should always buy such fish which may adjust in your tank easily.

Rainbow Shark is a beautiful fish with terrifying behaviour. It belongs to family " Cyprinidae ". There is no question of having small fish in the surroundings of Rainbow Sharks. They will kill harshly all small fish and will eat them if they ever found them in their surroundings. They try to be over lead even when they swim with larger fish than themselves. They keep on trying leading unless a big fish tells them that it is more smarter than them. Even two Rainbow Sharks do not live together.

There are two varieties of Rainbow Shark. First is known as Epalzeorhynchos frenatum. It is gray in color and have orange fins. While other is Epalzeorhynchos munense and is also known as Albino Rainbow Shark. It is white in color and have orange fins. Epalzeorhynchos frenatum has the ability to change its color and can form a black line on its body till tail. However, Epalzeorhynchos frenatum lacks this feature and remains white with orange fins in its whole life.

Rainbow Sharks are long and slender. They keep their mouth in downward direction all time for food. Rainbow Sharks like to eat small fish. They of course like to eat vegetative food too. So, if you have them in your aquarium, you may serve them with vegetative food along brine shrimp. Rainbow Sharks are never found in oceans but they are still saltwater fish.

One can have Rainbow Shark at home in his aquarium. However, Rainbow Shark is not a suitable choice for a beginner. A beginner should avoid to have Rainbow Shark in his aquarium as they will eat all other fish unless they are greater in size than Rainbow Shark. It will better if you have only a single Rainbow Shark in your aquarium. It is almost impossible to have more than one Rainbow Shark in a single home aquarium. You should provide enough space and water to it so that it may not look for affecting other creatures of your aquarium. You must have big caves in your aquarium so that small fish may hide.

Many people think that it is just wastage of time to change water of aquarium regularly. They think that why should I change water of aquarium regularly? Let me tell you that why should you change water of aquarium regularly.

When you give food to your fish, they waste a bit and that food stores at the bottom of your aquarium. That food will spoil water. As a result, the quality of water will affect. You must know that how much your aquarium is old. If you have an old aquarium, there will be no chance of fighting in your absence. All fish will already have the habit of living together. A new aquarium may cause trouble in your absence as all fish will not have adjusted in aquarium properly.

You should change water and wash all equipments before leaving.
